A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SYNODICAL BOARD OF HEALTH SERVICES
The growth of The Synodical Board of Health Services of The Church of North India over the past  22 years is an inspiring story of motivated and committed work of many Church leaders.

In 1988 the Office of The Synodical Board of Health Services was established at the headquarters of The Church of North India, at CNI Bhavan, 16, Pandit Pant Marg, New Delhi. Those who greatly helped and encouraged the growth of The Synodical Board of Health Services were the late Bishop Oscar Simon, Bishop S. B. Joshua, Bishop D. C. Gorai, Bishop D. K. Mohanty, Bishop P. K. Samantaroy, Bishop P. P. Marandih and Bishop P. K. Dutta, the present Chairman. The late Mr. Victor Bakhsh was the architect in establishing The Synodical Board of Health Services Office at CNI Bhavan, and he recruited Dr. L B M Joseph, retired Director and Professor of Surgery of the Christian Medical College in Vellore and Ludhiana, as a Consultant, and Dr. Samuel Kishan as the Chief Functionary & Secretary. Since the past decade and a half the activities of the Board has increased considerably (under the able guidance of several Chairmen elected by the CNI Synod friends and well wishers such as the late Mr. Victor Bakhsh and Dr. L B M Joseph). Dr. Samuel Kishan was welcomed by the Former General Secretary Bishop Santram, Mr. Victor Bakhsh and Bishop Simon.

Through The Synodical Board of Health Services, health and fullness of life has been made available to hundreds and thousands of people in pain, distress, and in need of help, and an opportunity to improve those living in poverty, ignorance, ill health and want. The Board has also encouraged and provided the means of training and support to hundreds of young men and women of the Christian Church Service in the Ministry of Healing.
